Stopping a server does not stop billing. To end the server charge, delete the server now or schedule its deletion when that option is available.
Choose the right action
| Your goal | Action | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| End an hourly server charge | Destroy | Billing stops and deletion begins immediately |
| Keep a monthly or annual server through its paid period | Delete at due date | Billing and service continue until the displayed date |
| End a prepaid server before its due date | Destroy | Billing stops and deletion begins immediately |
| Undo a future deletion | Keep server | The scheduled deletion is cleared |
Hourly services have no prepaid due date, so they cannot schedule deletion for one. Destroy them when you are ready for billing to stop.
Schedule deletion at the due date
On an eligible monthly or annual server, choose Delete at due date. The server remains available and continues metering until the date shown on its page. When that date arrives, deletion is queued automatically.
The server page displays the scheduled date and a Keep server control. Use it before deletion begins to clear the schedule. Once immediate deletion has started, the service cannot be reactivated automatically.
Destroy now
Choose Destroy on the server page and confirm the permanent action. Billing stops when the service is cancelled and the deletion process begins. A stopped or shut-down server still owns reserved capacity and continues billing.
Export your data first
Destruction removes the server and its disk. LayerOne has no snapshot or backup to restore. Verify an off-server backup before you confirm. See Back up your own data.
What happens to prepaid credit
Unused credit remains on the account and can pay for other servers and add-ons. Refund requests are reviewed case by case and are generally considered within seven calendar days of the account's first purchase or in exceptional circumstances. Any approved refund is based on remaining unused credit and is issued at staff discretion. See the Terms of Service.
