Backups and Snapshots on LayerOne
There is no snapshot button and no backup service yet. Copy anything you cannot replace off the VPS yourself.
LayerOne does not take backups or snapshots of your server. There is no snapshot button in the client portal, and there is nothing for support to restore from. Automated Backups on the pricing page is a planned add-on with 7-day retention listed so the rate is public when it ships. It is not running today.
What that means in practice
A reinstall or destroy is permanent. If the guest holds a database, a game world, Vaultwarden data, or n8n workflows you cannot rebuild from git, that copy has to live somewhere that is not this VPS, on a schedule you control.
Copy data off yourself
Pull files with rsync, dump databases with the tool the application already has, and keep the copy off-box. Test a restore once. A backup you have never restored is a hope. The docs walk through the same rule: Back up your own data.
When the add-on ships
Do not wait for it. Until Automated Backups is actually purchasable in the client area, treat the disk as if it can disappear. The planned add-on is not an off-site archive either; you will still want a copy you control.
